On Friday 14th July 2017, Inminds human rights group will hold an emergency vigil in London, on Westminster Bridge facing the Houses of Parliament, to demand freedom for Palestinian MP Khalida Jarrar and the other 10 members of the Palestinian parliament that are currently imprisoned by the Israeli occupation.
Palestinian mother of two daughters, Khalida Jarrar has dedicated her life to defending Palestinian political prisoners in occupation dungeons. She chairs the Prisoners' Committee of the Parliament and is former executive director of Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association and a member of its board.
Khalida Jarrar was given a six month administrative detention order today (12th July 2017) following her abduction by soldiers on 2nd July. Under administrative detention Palestinians are indefinitely caged without charge or trial. Nine of the eleven imprisoned Palestinian MPs are being held without any charge. This practice of arbitrary detention without charge or trial, often as a punitive measure, is a violation of articles 78 and 72 of the Fourth Geneva Convention which state that an accused individual has the right to defend himself.
Inminds chair Abbas Ali said "Since the occupations defeat in the 2006 Palestinian elections, Israel has targetted elected members of the Palestinian parliament as a means to undermine Palestinian democracy. They are simply rounded up and caged without any charge, or trial, or even set length of sentence. Within 3 years of the election nearly a third of the Palestinian parliament was imprisoned. Now we are again seeing a rise in the targeting of Palestinian MPs with Khalida Jarrar's abduction. We stand outside the British parliament in solidarity with Khalida Jarrar, to demand her immediate release, and the release of all members of the Palestinian parliament."
If you support this activity please share this alert widely, thank you.
JazakAllah,
Abbas Ali

Featured MP3 Podcast "[Deportation at the airport] We saw the injured [Turkish] men going through.. a lot had a leg cut out of their trousers or an arm cut out of their top. It had been cut out to treat their wounds.. they were covered in blood, blood that had been there for three days, and some of them had wounds that were still bleeding.. What upset me most was seeing the dozen men, one after another, hobbling across the terminal, with a bandaged foot. I couldn't ask them why so many of them had a bandaged foot, I couldn't ask them what had happened, because if they spoke or if any of us spoke to them the Israelis beat the injured person.. We later found out that they had these injuries on the tops of their feet from when the troops came down from the helicopter on the Mavi Marmara, and they came down firing - they had been shot from above. Some of the men that were killed were shot at close range - head and chest, but a dozen of the men who were shot, among 59 people who were shot, they were shot at the tops of their feet - the bullets were coming down.. They weren't given a wheelchair or a pair of crutches, and if any of the other passengers stood up and tried to offer [help].. that person was dragged away and smacked by these Israelis. The Israeli soldiers sat on the floor, laughed and sniggered and made every one of these Turkish men hobble and hop all the way across, some 200 metres, everyone of them, one by one, made to do that purely for the sick amusement of the Israeli soldiers."
