NGOs
urge shoppers to rethink purchasing attitudes

Several nongovernmental organizations formed after Israels
April incursions into Palestinian territories marked the newly declared
National Boycott Day by urging shoppers throughout the country to
consider the impact of their purchases on the Jewish states
economy.
Under the umbrella Boycott Campaign of Israeli Supporters, over
200 activists, mostly students, flooded supermarket entrances Saturday,
handing out brochures on four companies that fund and have major
investments in Israel.
We wanted to base our campaign on solid evidence, so we only
published this information after we researched several sources and
websites, including those of the Israeli Army, said activist
Samah Idriss.
Next month, on Sept. 28, to commemorate the day the second
intifada was born, we will declare Arab Boycott Day and hold a similar
activity that targets four other companies that support Israel,
Idriss said.
